Abyssus Abyssum Invocat is a short film that utilizes stop-motion animation and live-action puppetry to create a darkly comic meditation on capital punishment and religion. The surreal and macabre world of Abyssus Abyssum Invocat is inspired by the animation from masters of the stop-motion craft such as Jan Svankmajer and The Brothers Quay. The film’s title is interpreted to mean ‘Hell invokes Hell.’ .

An intertextual journey through the areas of memory, flashback and imagination, not entirely conscious sensations that are often evoked by experiencing reality. It is a story depicting very subjective and personal emotions, showing the world woven with cultural themes parallel to dreaming which constantly overlaps the reality in a dangerous manner.

Herman Blue” Dir. Ian Mark Stewart- 4min – USA (Local)
Life is never easy… especially not if you’re a pumpkin.  Using over 250 individually carved pumpkins to create, “Herman Blue: The Pumpkin Comic” features a woebegone jack-o-lantern musing on many topics ranging from love and relationships to the troubles of air travel; and all from the “unique” perspective of a pumpkin.
