Happy International Animation Day!  Today ASIFA Atlanta celebrates International Animation Day at the historic Plaza Theatre!

Creative Loafing asked us why animation puts the "A" in Atlanta. Take a seat and see why! This presentation showcases industry animation from a range of local studios who produce for the masses. Including reels, spots and shorts from Turner Studios, Primal Screen, Dagnabit!, One Eyed Robot and Pencilmation.

5:30 PM - The Atlanta exchange panel
International Animation Day is made possible by animators who allow ASIFA chapters to exchange their work globally. Watch four of the best representing ASIFA Atlanta this year and meet the animators who created them.

Fisher, Yoram Benz
Cold Country, Chris Palmer and Travis Overstreet
The Dream of Ore Magi, Evan Curtis
Mythtory of the World: Olympic Games, Ross Bollinger

6:30 PM - "12 n 12" 2012 Showdown
12 n 12 challenges teams to create 12 seconds of animation in 24 hours. Inspired by Scott McCloud's 24-Hour Comic, ASIFA-Atlanta's 24-hour challenge splits the workload over 2 days. Last weekend, 4 teams of animators successfully created animated bumpers for the Plaza Theatre!

Come watch the behind the scenes reel and celebrate when we announce the winners! The teams: SCAD + Ross, Panic , Fraggle Chic , Kid Impulse

7:30 PM - 11th Annual International Animation Day selections
In 2002, ASIFA launched International Animation Day, a global celebration to honor the day Emile Reynaud presented the first animation to the public on October 28th.

Each October since, ASIFA chapters all over the world collect their best locally produced animated short films and exchange with other chapters. Our feature presentation includes the best of the exchange from Australia, Brazil, China, Korea, Poland and Portugal.
