ASIFA-Atlanta promo flyer

This is text from a flyer we had at the show back in December; I wrote the text, handed it to Jen, our webmaster, and she made beautiful flyers from it:


ASIFA-Atlanta is the local chapter of the worldwide animation society ASIFA ("Association International du Film d'Animation"), founded in France in 1960. ASIFA's purpose is to promote the art of animation.

A year's membership for ASIFA-Atlanta is $35. Students can join for $25.

With membership you will receive a subscription to the ASIFA members-only magazine as well as discounted or free entry to ASIFA-Atlanta events. By joining and supporting ASIFA-Atlanta, you are helping to make our screenings and events possible.

ASIFA-Atlanta holds the following events yearly:

 - "Roll Yer Own" in May - showcase of locally-made independent animation
 - "Blowin' Smoke" in July - showcase of locally-made commercial animation
 - "Animation Attack!" in August - festival of cartoons; part of Atlanta Underground Film Festival
- "International Animation Day" in October - animation from around the world
- Art Show in December - year-end art show / party

ASIFA offers the following recurring events:

- Figure drawing - every Thursday at Westwood College, $5 for a two hour session
- Boozer Doodle - monthly figure drawing / burlesque show
- Atlanta Animation Workshop - monthly meeting of animators to teach/learn or share work

Some of the special events we had in 2008:

- Don Hertzfeldt's "I Am So Proud of You"; Don showed his work on 35mm
- "To Hell With Hitler", a screening on 16mm of WWII-era propaganda cartoons curated by C. Martin Croker, voice of Zorak
